Where are the classes?

The is a 100% virtual course with pre-recorded content from expert speakers and audience Q & A. Join us from the comfort of your home or wherever you can get a strong WiFi signal. Take the course at your pace over the 6 months you are provided to complete it.

What is the investment?

$150 per person or family/business. You will share one login and one Canvas learning dashboard.

What is included?

Using the Canvas Learning Management Dashboard, beginning on Jan. 31st, you will have access to over 20 hours of recorded presentations,  presenter slides, handouts, discussions and chats and ability to email instructors with questions as needed for up to 6 months after signing up.

Are there scholarships?

There is a limited pool of partial scholarships for BIPOC (black, indigenous, and people of color) individuals as well as for those experiencing significant economic hardships. Please fill out this short application here to be considered for a 1/2 off scholarship (a value of $75 dollars). Do not register and pay before you fill out the application. Wait to hear from us in order to receive a discount code that you will apply at checkout. Awards will be made each Monday. Scholarships will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis.

Can people outside of the West enroll?

Absolutely! Although this course is called the Western Meat School, people living in other parts of the country or internationally are welcome to take it. The bulk of our speakers are from western United States and we emphasize the geography of that region in the lectures. Yet most of the content pertains to direct market meat producers nearly anywhere.

Is this course for starting a butcher shop/meat processing facility?

Although this course would be very helpful for you to understand niche meat production and marketing, the content is not geared towards those who want to start new meat processing facilities or improve upon existing ones. How do I register?

Registration will be through Oregon State University Professional and  Continuing Education (PACE) website. Registration is now open at this link.

Will I receive credits or a certificate?

This is a non-credit short course, however a Certificate of Completion will be available if you finish all of the required course content within a 6 month time frame after signing up and write a two page business plan that will be graded.
